[Opinions] Sophonisba
This name has been growing on me lately. I think it's a lovely, refreshing alternative to Sophia/Sofia and Sophie with a backstory, as well.
I know it's a tad unusual, but I can't help but be smitten with it. What do you think of Sophonisba?

I struggle a bit with the pronunciation, but it's a refreshingly interesting name : ) I do prefer Sophronia though.
the nisba part makes me think of the movie Toy Story when Buzz Lightyear has is mental breakdown and starts referring to himself as Mrs. Nesbit. That was the first thing that came to my mind. I prefer Sophronia or Sophrona.
I don't really care for the name, though I do like another Sofonisba: Anguissola, whose work I enjoy. Her 1554 self portrait is an on-again, off-again favorite of mine.
Still... not big on the name. It does strike me as a similar alternative to Sophia, et cetera, which is why I think I'm not into it. I don't want something different yet reminiscent of them, because I don't like them and want to see them make a quick and total exit. :-/ Know what I mean? I'd rather see Sophonisba over Sophia, but in truth I'd rather have a break entirely from Soph- names.

Hmm, I don't think I care for it.

Well, I think it is an interesting name for sure though I can't really decide whether or not I like the sound of it. I like the story behind it though and for that reason I like it.
Over the top imo, but each to his/her own.

Tell me more about it before I make up my mind. :)

That's a link to the biography of the brave Carthaginian aristocrat. A very Juliet crossed with Cleopatra type of person.

The name of a well-known social reformer (in my state, at least) and first female member of the Kentucky bar. Of course, it helps that we're related. :)
