Obviously our Swedish pronounciation is closer to the British pronouciation here.
Besides, to me Cara or Kara is Italian, Elvira Spanish and Tamara Russian. And I am certain that Italians don't pronounca Cara as "care-a" and Spaniards not Elvira as "el-vye-ra".
But nowadays we just have to ask a person how she pronounces her name; international names have different pronounciations in different countries.
"You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed." (Edith Södergran 1891-1923)
