Phoenix and Maya met when Maya, then 17, was accused of killing her older sister, Mia. Phoenix, a new defense attorney with just one case under his belt, took on her case and managed to win, unearthing Mia's real killer in the process. Maya stayed on with Phoenix to help him with his defense cases. The two became close friends and, over time, more. They were recently married in a small ceremony that took place in Maya's hometown.
