I was thrilled to find out that Russell and I were expecting our first child together, and wanted to find the perfect way to tell him of our little miracle. Conveniently, it was rather close to Father's Day, and so I decided to incorporate the holiday into my announcement. We spent the day with Travis, who is now two years old, and together, he and I gave him a gift, and signed the card, not just "Love Jen and Trav", but added a special little touch, with "Jen, Trav, and Baby". His expression was absoultely priceless, and he couldn't be more overjoyed at the impending arrival of our little one.
Travis is still quite young, and so, didn't entirely understand the nature of what was going on. I absolutely consider him to be my son, though, and so wanted him to share in our joy. We sat him down and explained that Daddy and Mommy were going to be bringing home a baby sister or brother to play with, and he seemed quite happy at the prospect of having someone to look after.
And so when Carrie came into the world, and he held her for the first time, with Daddy's help, the look on his face was one to remember for a lifetime. He adores his little sister with everything, and loves to show her off to everyone who comes for a visit.
