Alex and I became grandparents for the very first time a year ago. Ashton and Sam married 2 years ago, when he was 19 and she was 18, and it wasn't long before we found out they were expecting a baby. It turned out to be a little boy, who they named Gideon.
Not long after Gideon was born, I found out I was pregnant again. Alex and I were a bit worried about telling the rest of the family, but it didn't go badly, though everyone was a bit shocked. And about 3 months ago, our little Tabitha Lillian was born.
Ashton and Sam own their own apartment, but they're both in college, so Gideon spends a lot of time at our house. Helena loves caring for both Tabitha and Gideon, which means I get a break sometimes.
Avril and Amelie are both away at college now. Avril is studying to become a music teacher, and Amelie is studying graphic design. Last Christmas, they both came home with boyfriends! Amelie was with a boy named Chris, and Avril was with a boy named Edgar. Both of them are talking about marriage, as they're at the same age Ashton was when he proposed to Sam.
Phoenix and River are juniors in high school now. They have plenty of friends between them, and both of them are dating. Phoenix is dating a girl named Naomi and River is dating a girl named Anna.
Ruby is a sophmore in high school, and she's dating a senior, Zack, which worries us a bit. But Alex and I trust her judgement, and Zack doesn't seem like a bad guy.
Helena, beyond babysitting Tabitha and Gideon, has a few good friends, like Olivia, but she is still a very quiet girl. She gets good grades, but doesn't socialize much.
Gabriel likes going out, now that we often have two babies in the house. I guess he's used to being our baby, so this is strange for him. He plays sports with his friends. He seems to love all the sports they play together: Football, soccer, street hockey, baseball....
