[Opinions] Shady
I was thinking today, and the combo Elodia Shady popped into my head. At first I was really excited, but now I'm starting to think of more unfortunate associations with Shady than a pretty picture of a shady part of the flower garden. What is your opinion? Shady or no Shady? And, do you have any middle name suggestions for Elodie or Elodia?ETA-- Ok, no Shady. What about just Shade? Thanks,
-Carys

There's is this girl that plays on a different team than I do but in the same province and her name is Sade I think but EVERYONE calls her Shady

No Shady. You might as well call your kid "sinister". And Shade's just a random word. Elodie and Elodia are pretty enough, though.

To em, shady means "illegal" activity, or a "quesitonable" character.

I would prefer Elodia Sadie or Elodia Shade.

I'm liking Shade a lot!

Elodia Shade would be quite nice, and actually flows better than Elodia Shady (not to mention it lacks all of Shady's negative connotations). Shade was actually used as a male name in the US in the 19th century, mostly for males, I think.

I want to like it, because the association with a shady tree is nice. But I think of a "shady" character, or Slim Shady.

Aww, I love My Little Ponies! Thanks for providing another positive association Sabrina :)

I loved them as well!(m)Have kept them all on a shelf in my room at my parents'place! However, if a name was used on a Little Pony, I'd be inclined to find too cutesy for a child.

As soon as I saw it I thought of the folk song Shady Grove. I LOVE that song. However, most people tend to associate shady with people who have sketchy backgrounds. I know that's not what you meant, the shady garden thought is lovely, but its not what most other people will think.

not goodMy first thought was of that dumb Eminem (am I the only person who thinks his "rapping" voice is whiny and nasal?) and then came disreputable, crooked, untrutstworthy.

Ugh, I can't stand Eminem or his "music." As for Shady, I laugh when I see it on Web Nursery, and that's not a good thing.

I automatically think of Slim Shady, and "shady" as in "dubious character, dishonest."I think I prefer Elodie over Elodia, but both are nice.

Will the real Slim Shady please stand up? Please stand up?

One of the things I thought of.But then, I won't be having kids for a looooooong time, so I was thinking perhaps the association would fade by that time?

As did I.

lol. Thats what I thought too:)

One of the definitions for shady is: "of dubious character; rather disreputable".
I don't find the name to be appealing. Elodie and Elodia are okay.

Shady has another meaning, though - dark & sinister, basically. :-/ And then there's Slim Shady, not a great namesake, LOL. How about Elodie Zillah (it means "shade"). :)

Oooh, I love Elodie Zillah! Thanks for the suggestion.

I, too, think of the negative usage of "shady" before a garden. Also, it reminds me of the rapper Eminem's alternative moniker "Slim Shady".
