[Opinions] Captain
I was just thinking.... (could be another of my mad moments like Fairy.. I'm not even over it yet!) could Captain be a first name? If so what on earth could you pair it with?TIA

I know a guy named Mister...He was in my French 201 class last semester. When we went around the room introducing ourselves and he said his name was Mister, we all turned and looked... "Mister what?" "Oh... Mister Smith." And we all busted out laughing. Then we realized Mister was his REAL first name and his name really WAS Mister Smith! xD
What a terrible thing to do to your child.

I know a kid named Major. It is so funny. Especially since his last name is... well, it's something very silly and pompous-English sounding. He sounds like a bumbling character in some lighthearted 19th century English detective novella. He's also a drunken moron, and he is so good-looking.
Wow. That definitely wasn't relevant. Anyway, yeah, sure, it could be a first name. So could Major. So could Toe. (Toe is kind of cute actually.) So could Pencil or Doctor or Mister. Or Fairy. It could be, but it would be very silly. (Captain and Fairy - what a sibset!)

so the question should be...Not "Could this be a name" but "Should it ibe a name?"

I know a guy named Judge mNice guy, rather smart. I agree that anything can be a name . . . that doesn't mean it should be, though.

Not a good idea. Captain is a title, so naming somebody Captain is like naming somebody Mister or Sergeant or Boss. It's worthy of a snigger everytime somebody addresses him:"Captain, you put that crayon away this minute!""Bob, can you go in the other room and see why Captain is crying?"
