Rachel ShayNation: Alterac

King Damien Gerard Romain Sebastien Luc Quentin Mathieu Lefebvre IV

Alterac is a decently sized island off the coast of
France, in the Bay of Biscay. No one really knew it existed until now, so it has no allies or enemies... yet.
King Damien's family came to power after the original Omen movie arrived on the island. Everyone heard the devil boy's name was
Damien, and they instantly surrendered power to
King Damien's Great-Great Grandfather,
Damien Gerard Romain Sebastien Luc Quentin Mathieu Lefebvre II (they believed he would have killed them otherwise). To this day, the Lefebvre's first born son is named
Damien, and the islanders are completely unaware that the movie is made up. :D
The island itself is quite beautiful, with many rolling green hills. Villages are placed expertly at both the tops of hills, and in the valleys. When up hill children want to visit downhill friends, they lay on their sides, take aim, and roll, hoping they don't hit a tree on the way down.
The island is stuck in the past, though it exists in modern times. There are no cars, and the only forms of transportation are walking, rolling down hills, and bikes. None of these are very good for getting up hills, and
King Damien is currently looking into hiring someone from afar to build a few ski lifts or gondolas.
The people of Alterac love movies, though often have to wait to get new ones. Whenever a new movie floats ashore, they all watch it together at
King Damien's castle (which is in the center of the island) and then they have a discussion session. Anyone who misses a movie premiere is basically shunned for a week-- no one will talk to them. This is the cause for most of the suicides on Alterac. Thankfully, most people make it, and the death rate is very low.
Because the air is clean and people get so much exercise, people in Alterac live for a very long time. Overpopulation is probably going to be an issue in the future.
King Damien is considering buying another island and hiring someone to move it closer. Yes, he's a bit of a nut, but he's a very good, fair king, loved by all.
