Sorry if I changed everything, but I was going for more of a French vibe than a Germanic one.

Descoteaux was discovered by a man who was exiled from his home. He never regretted his exile as it brought him to the new land which he considered his paradise. He quickly found himself alone on the land and declared it his own. Two years later, the discoverer of Descoteaux saw a woman swimming quite quickly towards the shores. He went to greet her and found she was fleeing from her opressive family. This is how the dynasty of Descoteaux began.
Geographically, Descoteaux has lovely mountains and cliffs as well as meadows and forests (of which are mostly decidious in nature). The country is surrounded by water on most sides. Descoteaux experiences winters, with lots of snow but rarely quite cold temperatures. The summer temperatures are never hot and hover in the 70 degree range.
Descoteaux is known for its literature, music, and art. The country is sutained on exports of those products, along with the export of fragrance, herbs and spices, as well as florals. Descoteaux is also well known for its architecture and many of its famous architects are commissioned for works in other countries.
