Nation: Sokolov

Sokolov is a small island which was first inhabited by some German travellers (although some thought they are exiled criminals) in 1205, followed later by large groups of Russians and French in 1299. This caused several wars over one hundred years on the island between those who had settled there, but eventually in 1401 the first King was crowned, King Nikolai Henrik Pyotr I. He only had daughters, who married into noble families. His daughter Maria married Duke Aleksander Marcovic, who became the next king. He was later assasinated, but strong willed Maria was able to keep the country under control until her death five years later, when civil war broke out again when her sister Ekaterina fought for the throne over Maria's son Dimitri, now old enough to rule. Dimitri eventually won enough support for the throne, and his descendants have been ruling ever since.
The island is about the size of Great Britain, and has glorious sunshine during the summer so its tourists are great in number. Its main export is fruit, due to the many orchards in the south of the island. Up in the north there is a beautiful landscape full of hills and rivers, and gets a lot of money as it plays a part in lots of paintings and has even been a set in two Hollywood films. Its current flaws are over population in its three major cities and flooding every few years in the mainland.
Their main allies are France after a peace treaty in 1910 and they have a trading agreement with Japan, Australia and Great Britain. Currently politicians are trying to sign a peace agreement with Russia and the US.
