Sleeping Beauty
Nation: Assendorp
DH [46]: His Serene Highness Viktor Wilhelm Kasimir Georg Conrad von Haanraadts, Hereditary Prince of Assendorp
DW [23]: Her Royal Highness Fernanda Olalla Béatriz Adelina Anunciacion Caridad Bolivar, Princess of Assendorp, Baroness of Salamanca
Princess Fernanda comes from Salamanca. Salamanca is a feudal barony located in Southern Europe - it is bordered by Portugal, Spain and the Straight of Gibraltar. The barony has very strong trading ties with Africa, especially Morocco and Algeria so even though it is in Europe, Salamanca has a uniquely Arabic and Exotic feel. Technically the barony isnt really a county - it should have been dissolved into Spain or Portugal years ago but somehow the Bolivar family have kept power over their 'nation' (mainly through force ;))
Fernanda and Viktor first met each other at a ball held in the Royal Palace at Assendorp. Viktor had put on a fabulous party and invited all the most eligable bachelorettes in Europe, in the hopes of finding a wife. His attention was immediately drawn to the proud, disdainful but beautiful Fernanda of Salamanca - she didnt want to travel away from her home country to "some grotty party" just for the pleasure of "a lecherous old man" but her parents forced her to go because they didnt want her to die an old maid, even though she was perfectly happy to live her life without being under the control of a husband. Viktor had eyes for no-one but Fernanda that evening and after the ball he persauded her to stay on in Assendorp. They were engaged within the month. Initially Fernanda accepted Viktor's proposal just to annoy her parents but she is very fond of her husband. There is obviously a large age difference but V and F share many interests - getting drunk and having a good time. The princess is very fiery and emotional but Viktor always manages to calm her down. The people of Assendorp love the exotic new princess and hope that they will soon be given an heir to the throne.
:)
