So what? Why give in to ignorant bullies? Ariel is a fine, handsome name, and it's widely used on both genders. I don't think anyone should shy away from using the name on a boy because some idiots might associate it with the Disney film. There are plenty of famous male Ariels out there as well (just check the comments section of the name Ariel, for instance).
Where is the comments section for the name? Thanks!
Click on the hyperlink of the name, and search for the 'comments' link from the right side of the screen (your right).

I think of "The Little Mermaid" when I hear the name Ariel, and I assure you I am not ignorant or an idiot. I know that Ariel is a perfectly acceptable male name, and I do like it on a boy in theory, but that doesn't change the fact that when I hear the name, my mind immediately goes "Little Mermaid!"

Kids get teased for lots of reasons, and while I'm totally against out-there names that just look like an invitation to teasing, the problem with this one is relatively minor IMHO.
