[Opinions] Mia?
I love the name Mia, but am not too fond of Amelia. Would it be okay to name a daughter just Mia? Or should I go ahead and name fer Amelia and just call her Mia?
And I have the sam issue with Edie. I love Edie, but don't like Edith / Eden.
What do you think?

I rate as Mia behind a nickname Amelia, Emilia, Amalia and Maria.

Mia is a legitimate name on it's own anyway, as is Edie. There would be nothing wrong with using either name.

I think Mia is absolutely fine on its own. I prefer it as a given name. However, Edie is too informal for my liking as a given name. I love it as a nickname, preferably for Edith or Meredith.

Yes, I think Mia is fine as a full name. I never knew Mia was a nn for Amelia until I came on here. I also think Edie can stand alone too.

I know two little girls called Mia, its a sweet name but a bit to short for me I tend to like longer names and love Amelia.
Edie is cute but I really love it as a nn for Editha or Edytha
Both Mia and Edie are fine as stand alone names for other peoples children :)

I adore Mia on its own. It's simple elegance, but if you're looking for something with more substance how about Maria nn Mia?

I love Mia, and I like Amelia, but I personally don't see anything wrong with just naming your daughter Mia, in fact I would urge you not to use the name Amelia if you don't like it. I feel the same way about Edie.If you don't want to use Mia on its own here areSome names that could be "long for" MiaHermia

I think Mia would do fine on its own, Edie is a maybe - although they're both very cute!

It's a close call, but yes I can see Mia as a name on its own. If you don't like Amelia as a full name, there's always: Maria / Mariana / Miriam, Marisa, Emilia, Miranda, Artemisia, Demetria, Serafima, Euphemia, Melina, Philomena, Wilhelmina, Armina, Mireia, Marcelline, Melisande, Ameliane, Dominique, Marguerite, Mira, Mayim ("mah-EEM"). I don't think Edie can stand on its own though. I love Edith, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. Other names that could serve as a full name for Edie: Ida ("EE-da"), Aida ("ah-EE-da"), Edina, Edwina, Bridget, Frieda / Freda / Elfreda, Freedom, Enid, Edel ("ee-DEL," or "eh-DEL," my Irish cousin's name), Egidia (Greek name and name of old Scottish queen), Leda, Liadan ("LEE-uh-din).I know that there's an Irish form of Bridget / Brigid pronounced "breed," but I'm not sure of the spelling. Also, I met a woman in Ireland recently named Breda ("BREE-da"), a form of Bridget / Brigid.
