[Opinions] Sibeal
I really adore the name Sibeal (it's my fave at the moment) but everyone says it doesn't sound very nice. You pronounce it shi-bayl. Like Siobhan, but with a different ending.
I wanted your opinions on it. I love every bit of the name.

I thought it was pronounced [shih-bal], with the [a] sounding like the 'a' in 'cat...'
Anyway, it's nice.

It's nms but I like Siobhan.
I don't like "Sh" names on women, and I find the look and pronunciation of this name equally annoying. I know it's Irish, but it sounds ghetto, and like it should have the siblings Sh'Quinn, La'Ron, and Tyreke.
Sorry, but I don't think it sounds very nice either. It reminds me of the Irish word for mouth, béal.
I hope you don't mind, but can I put it on my character names list? I'm writing a fantasy novel at the moment and it would be a really good name (might use it for a guy though - I assume it's female).

Yep, female.
It's fine - I really don't mind. I don't own it or anything =P

I think Sibéal is OK. The sound is different, but still quite attractive.

I like it too. It's a great alternative to Isabel/Isabelle/etc. which is so overused today.

I thought Siobhan was pronounced shi-vonne. You know, because the bh in Gaelic/Celtic/whatever makes a V sound? So, technically, wouldn't the name you like be shi-vayle? I'm not a fan of funky spellings. I would pronounce that si-beel. Because that's how it's spelled. *shrug*
Shi-vayle or shi-bayle, either way it's not my taste, but the former seems somewhat better.

A "bh" makes a "v" sound, but a "b" on its own doesn't. So Sibéal wouldn't be shi-vayle, it would just be shi-bayle :-)
