[Opinions] WDYTO Maroline?
A coworker of mine brought her 3 year old daughter in today. The little girls actually name is Mary Caroline, but the two names were combined to form the NN Maroline. WDYT?
Maroline is nms, but I do think it was very creative of them to combine the names, as opposed to just shortning one of them.

Very cute for a nickname.Reminds me of Malyn from Steel Magnolias, haha.

I don't like it at all. The biggest problem as I see it is that it doesn't look or sound like a nickname. If I heard someone calling a girl Maroline I would think it was her full name, and not a very nice full name. It's too bad that a combo like Mary Caroline is shortened to Maroline. I would rather say the whole name than Maroline and it isn't much longer anyway.

As a nickname it's pretty cute but as a full name it's nmsaa. I agree that it is a very creative nickname if nothing else.

Well, I'd rather see it as a nn than a given name. But it's just too much of an invented combo of Madeline & Caroline, both of which are rather popular. IMO.

I am not a fan of made up names or nn's much either. I tend not to see the point of naming someone something and then calling them something else.
Maroline doesnt sound like much of anything to me. Caroline with an M really.

I love that there is a 3-year-old out there named Mary Caroline and not Chloe or something tryndee! It's cute, but too much like Caroline--it sounds so classy, too!

Maroline is horrible! Mary Caroline is sweet though.

It's what foreign people call me, since they have trouble pronouncing my name (Marjolijn). I quite like the look and sound of Maroline, but I'm a bit biased :)

I think it's actually very pretty. It was inventive of them to combine the two names that way. It makes me think of Scarlett's sisters in Gone With the Wind. Suellen was a combination of Susan Elinor and Carreen was a combination of Caroline Irene. I've never before known anyone to do that in real life, but maybe more people should.

I really don't like it. It sounds awkward to me.

It reminds me of marmalade.

As a nn, it is cute. It would be cute as a first name if it wasn't so similiar to Caroline.
