Would you assume Wen was masculine or feminine on first instinct?

I just wanted a gender neutral name for a character, other than a surname or your typical Alex or Sam, but if you all say masculine (or vice versa) then I'll just keep looking.

My first thought was that it was a girl, like it was short for Bronwen or another Welsh girl's name.

Is that Wen is a Chinese person. Don't know what gender, or if Wen is a Chinese surname or a first name or both.

My second thought is "wen: a cyst."

I thought it was a girl name at first, probably because it reminded me of Wren. :)

I immediately thought it was feminine, but that's because I misread it and thought it was Wren (and I don't even have the excuse that it's really early in the morning this time! Sad...). Now it's sort of neutral in my mind. I really like it. :-)

Wen seems femme to me. (Li is the first very neutral name I thought of.)

Winnifred, Gwendolen... are reasons why. I think Wen would be a great nickname for Gwendolen.

I could see it on a male though.
