Bantu refers to a whole group of languages, extending from West/Central Africa right down to the southern tip; Swahili is a member of that group. You wouldn't say, European languages and French; same thing.
tahn DEE way is what it sounds like where I live; pretty name. The silent H isn't exactly what we're used to in English - it's a sign that the T is unvoiced (as if only the T sound is whispered, and the rest of the word spoken as usual).
