Ryan and Carrie were high school sweethearts. They met when she was a freshman, and he a junior. They seemed to be exact opposites--he the athletic captain of the football team, and she the quiet, studious honor student. But nevertheless, they hit it off from the start, began dating (one of their first big dates was to his junior prom), and fell in love. He proposed to her Christmas of her senior year, and they were married the following September, when she was 18 and he 20. Though young, they felt entirely ready to spend the rest of their lives together, and were thrilled to find out six months after their wedding that they were expecting their first child.
Grant Nicholas came into the world, December 4, weighing 7 pounds, 10 ounces; 19 1/2 inches long. He looks so much like his daddy with brown hair and blue eyes...an adorable little boy with a wonderful personality and a smile that lights up the room.
Before Grant was born, Ryan and Carrie looked into the possibility of adopting a child from Brazil, but when he came into the world, they decided to wait before having or adopting another child, wanting to devote as much time as possible to their little boy.
