Jack and Mary grew up together in a little town in New Hampshire. They were married over the summer in a lovely ceremony with everyone in town attending. They still live in the same small town they grew up in. Jack would love to travel the US, but Mary is content to stay where things are familiar. Jack just finished up medical school and is starting a practice in town. Mary is staying at home, but helps her mother run her family's general store.
Jack and Mary were married June 21, 1900.
First Round
Jack and Mary have been married for five years. It is now 1905. Jack has a thriving local practice, and he is now making house calls on patients up to 30 miles from where they now live. Jack is thinking about investing in a car, but isn't sure about how worthwhile it will be. He and Mary have five children. Their first child, a boy, is named after Jack. John Michael Bartlett Jr. was born May 15, 1901. His younger brother, Matthew Benjamin Bartlett was born ten months later-on March 2, 1902. Jack and Mary's first daughter, Delilah Rose Bartlett was born February 19, 1904. Their third son, Reuben Moses Bartlett was born almost a year later, on December 1, 1904. Their last child, Elisabeth Hope Bartlett, was born just a few weeks ago, on July 23, 1905.
Jack, now 30, loves being a father to his children. He enjoys playing games with them and teaching them. He hasn't changed much in the five years that he and Mary have been married. He has the same tall muscular build, scruffy dark brown hair, and mischevious green eyes. He enjoys helping people. Jack also enjoys being outdoors and will often take long rides on his black gelding, Cobalt, when he is not busy.
Mary, 27, enjoys being a mother very much. She still tries to help her mother in the general store, but is quite busy raising five children. She doesn't get out of the house much, but loves being able to take care of her children.
Jonny, 5, is the eldest of the Bartlett children. He is outgoing and loves to talk to people about anything. He is quite precocious and already knows how to read and do simple arithmetic. He has also decided that he wants to be a doctor just like his daddy. He looks out for his younger siblings and becomes concerned if they are out of his sight for too long.
Matt, 4, is the Bartlett's second son. He is quite the opposite of Jonny. Matt is very quiet and painfully shy. He seems to enjoy animals and most of his conversation relates to the dogs or cat that the Bartletts own. Matt is smart, but tends to be overlooked because of his shyness.
Lily, 2, is the Bartlett's first daughter. She is quite the chatterbox and she loves to play outside. She isn't much of a "girly girl", but instead would much rather get dirty. It worries Mary that she doesn't seem to be ladylike, but Jack believes that it's just a phase.
Rube, 1, is the Bartlett's third son. He is very laid back and doens't seem to care about too much as long as he's fed and dry. Rube is a very cute baby and is a favorite of some of the local women.
Lizzy, who was born only a few weeks ago, has already begun to show her tempestuous personality. She seems to fluctuate from being very happy and content to being absolutely upset and wailing inconsolably. Jonny likes to hold her when she's happy, but as soon as she starts to cry it's Mary's turn.
The Bartlett family is very content to be where they are. They live in the town where both Jack and Mary grew up, so they have many acquaintances. They built a new house on the edge of town last year. It is a two story affair with plenty of space for everyone. They have two dogs and a cat now in addition to their five horses. Jack now works in what used to be their home. It is quite a bit smaller than their current house, but works well as a medical practice with a "waiting room", "examination room", and "operating room" downstairs in addition to the kitchen. Upstairs is Jack's office and a guest room that Jack sometimes rents out or uses for patients who need overnight accommodations.
