[Opinions] Allegra
I'm starting to like this name a lot more than I used to. It reminds me less of that allergy medicine now, and seems more like a real name. Do you like it? Is it too weird?

It is definitely a real name. It has been around since the Middle Ages.

BeautifulIt's a really lovely name, allergy medicine be damned. Also, if she loathes it, she can always go by Allie.

Still reminds me of medicine. If you were to take that away, though, it'd remind me of the Italian word for "happy".

Allegra...hmmmidk, it reminds me of some kind of grass......but I can't think of it. I don't really like Ally as a nn so there's a downpoint, but it does have a "spunky" (thanks Cassandra) air.

I adore it.I love the meaning and the feel of the name. I think of Allegra's Window first, allergy medicine second.I also suspect that the medication Allegra won't be around for much longer, so it's totally usable. And even if it's not usable as a first name, it makes a lovely middle name.

Hm, I wanted to check your profile for your age because you don't mention it but when I was a kid in the mid-90s there was this children's program called Allegra's Window about a puppet named Allegra - so I'm used to it and wouldn't be surprised to see it used personally, and I wouldn't think other people who've seen the show would be either... so, yes, I think it's definitely usable and not too weird at all :-)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegra%27s_WindowI first heard of rutabegas from this show (had no idea what they were till then)! lol

no, I remember itI remember Allegra's Window... the little puppet who lived underground or something? I'm 22 btw. I remember on this board like 3 years ago people would bring up Allegra and everyone would say no b/c of the medicine.

Every time I bring up Allegra people say no because of the medicine too, I watched Allegra's Window, but really, until today I was under the impression it was Allegra's Castle. jeez. my memory must be failing me.

Maybe you're thinking of Eureeka's Castle? They lived in a castle on that show and it was on about the same time...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eureeka%27s_Castle
It's so sad how well I remember these shows from my childhood lol

I thought the show was called Allegra's Castle, I guess my memory isn't that great.

I love it, though I doubt I would ever use it. it doesn't remind me much of the allergy medicine. because it was a name to me before an allergy medicine.I don't think it's weird, at all.
