João arrived shortly after his 8th birthday, we were very excited. He knew very few english words, but explained to us that now that he had a new home, he wish for a new name to go with it. He thought of it as a renewal. He helped us pick the name, David for his favorite soccer player; David Beckham and Teodoro for his father, that he remembered from when he was very little. He is alot better at english now and him and Daniel play soccer outside almost every day. We are very happy David came to live with us and hope we can adopt more.

We weren't very surprised when we learned that Austin's girlfriend Leah was pregnant. In 4 years, Austin got better and got worse. Shortly after finishing his community service hours, he started dating a girl(whom he met there), her name was Audrey. She was nice, but like Austin had make some mistakes but her parents were keeping a very careful eye on her, and Austin found her "boring". He started dating Leah 2 years ago, shortly after breaking up with Audrey. She's very unpredictable and irresponsable. In the 2 years that we've known her, she's dropped out of 4 different schools, has been in and out of jail frequently and has had a few DUIs.

That brings us to Leah's pregnancy. She and Austin had moved out into their own place a few weeks earlier just down the street. Austin had come over one day, like he usually does when Leah is having a mood swing. He told us they just found out, and that Leah was sure she wanted to keep the baby even if he thought it would be best for them, and the baby if they didn't... The pregnancy went well, none-the-less, even if Austin didn't tell us, we were pretty certain Leah was still drinking and smoking during the pregnancy. In May, when Caleb was born 2 months premature, the doctors thought he was normal(for a premature baby that is) and everything seemed to be going good until a few weeks later, Austin called us from the hospital. It seemed that Caleb had gotten a very serious infection that had already spread throughout his lungs. The doctors said it was caused by cigarette smoke. We never found out exactly what happend, but apperently after hearing this Leah got up and left the hospital. When Austin went after her, she said she was leaving and never coming back. Caleb's infection went away after 2 weeks in the NCIU and him and Austin moved out of the apartment and back in with us. Caleb is doing better now, but the doctor's fear because of Leah's drug abuse, he might have some problems later on.
