[Opinions] Lara
What do you think of the name Lara (prn: Lahr-a)? I've never given it much thought, but tonight I heard it on and it sounded so pretty.
I'm not sure if I would use it as a FN or MN. Does anyone have any combo suggestions?
Thanks! :)

I love Lara and have planned to use it as a nickname for Larissa for about 12 years. It was the single name that turned me into a name nerd. ;-)

Gorgeous
I like Laura slightly better, but I adore both names. Lara has its own charm, it's so simple and feminine and pretty without being flighty and over-the-top. (I hate when Laura is pronounced LORE-a, ugh.)
I think it would be an awkward middle name. But the only Lara I know is Lara Elizabeth, which is kind of dull. Lara Octavia comes to mind!

Ditto.
I know 2 girls with that name. They pronounce it differently. One pronounces it almost like Laura just with not a such a strong u and one pronounces it Lair (like L with the word air) a (like uh). I think the second one is what you mean. A lot of people get it confused with Laura when they hear or see the name. It is pretty though.

I love Lara. It's much prettier (and less common) than Laura, Lauren, Laurel, etc. Since it's fairly simple, I'd use something more elaborate for a mn so that it doesn't turn boring.
