Saranne and Ollie have had a very busy year since the last update! Saranne was very surprised to discover that she was expecting again when Beth was just 6 months old. She carried Jedidiah to term without any major complications- just suffering from exhaustion due her extreme work load. Jedidiah was born a healthy child and weighed 8.07. His brothers and sisters are delighted to have another baby around the house. They have all been raised to view a child as a treasure and blessing. The boys are glad to be catching up and not outnumbered by the girls as much!!
Saranne and Ollie are finding the days short and trying to get everything done has been a great challenge! The children are still homeschooled and this takes up many hours a day. Each child gets at least 2 hours of individual tution and also 3-4 hours of group lessons per day! This takes up so much time that there never seens to be enough time left in the day for the other tasks necessary in maintaining the household.
God is good however and recently Ollie's youngest sister- now aged 20 found herself needing somewhere to live. She is now living with us and the help she is able to provide is priceless. She loves her nephews and nieces and often spoils them!! The children love to play with her and she has developed a reputation within the family of being an amazing story teller. She will often sit for hours in the evenings telling them stories. She is also able to teach the children some of their lessons- she is able to take them for reading and also for some of their science lessons. This helps to ease the burden that Saranne and Ollie bear.
Annie, Mattie and Josie are now growing at a tremendous rate! Annie is progressing rapidly in her education. She wishes to become a doctor and is praying about returning to the area where her parents were serving as missionaries. She feels that the lack of medical support in the area is partially the cause of their problem. Mattie is becoming more open with the family. Beth has fallen in love with him and follows him around like a puppy! This has worked wonders in softening his heart and he has become her champion! Josie much prefers playing outside- climbing trees and making dens to any study, however she is showing signs of excelling to the same extent as Annie has!
Rickie and Nai are growing fast- Saranne can hardly keep up their their clothes! They outgrow them or wear them out so fast! They are also progressing in their studies although, like Josie, they much prefer their freetime! Rickie joins Josie in her tree climbing and denmaking- what a pair of ragamuffins we have at the end of the day! Nai however is quite the little lady! She delights in dressing up and playing with her dolls. She spends much of her time watching Annie and copying her! She doesnt like hand me downs too much! But we allow her to ask for a new dress for her birthday present if she wishes!!
Beth is now walking and she gets into mischief at every oppertunity! She does, as we mentioned earlier, spend much of her time with Mattie and this, thankfully keeps her within safety much of the time. She still has her head of curls and the thickness of these is unbelivable! It is very hard to keep these curls neat and tidy!
