To me 'artisan' has little to do with artists (or rather that is not my primary meaning) but as a social historian it might mean something different to me than it does to other people.To me the meaning is more 'industrial', as I said - labourer, worker, proleteriat. The skilled craftsman with more learning than the average worker. Revolutionary, radical, socialist something quite unbalancing. If I saw 'Artisan' on a child I'd see it as a political statement, maybe the child of Marxists. I am probably alone in this though.I wouldn't associate 'artisan' with 'artist' I think is the purpose of this rambling.
