No, it's not usable as a first name and yes, it's way too matchy with Scarlett. It's fine as a middle name, though.

this made me giggle. My niece Emma carried a doll everywhere for months and her name was Miss Marigold. I think its a cute name but I could never consider it because I automatically think of that ratty old doll in her own carseat in the back. =)

I like the name, no reason not to use it.

I think it's lovely; I love the idea of the nn Goldie. I don't think it's too "matchy" with Scarlett; and it should age well enough. She can always be Mari / Mary if she chooses; and if it's a family name, all the better, it demonstrates real use and real age. Louisa Marigold is perfectly charming, btw. :-)

It sounds a bit too naturey for my taste, since it's a non-traditional flower name. I don't know why you would want to name someone after a marigold. They aren't particularly interesting and they smell bad. But it is a bit appealing to me too because have a thing for Mar- names for some reason. I don't think it's too matchy with Scarlett. One's a color and one's a flower. If they were both colors or both flowers, then there'd be a problem.

I think Marigold is too matchy with Scarlett. I also think of a flower when I hear Marigold--until it's paired with another color name like Scarlett and then all I think is "yellow and red."
Marigold is a little too out there for me as a first name. I find it a little foofy and overly precious. It's hard for me to imagine a Marigold as an adult.

It's better as a mn, imo, if it needs to be used at all.

Sounds like a name for somebody's cow or sheep. I can't see an actual person with the name. Besides, marigold flowers smell horrible.
