Still in my Hebrew names trip, I guess... I don't usually like names that are too short, but this one's spunky and could work, especially as I like the meaning and longer -tal names such as Meital and Avital.

Do you prefer it more on a boy or a girl? The meaning feels more feminine, but soundwise I can see it working on a boy as well.

I like it in theory, but

It's too close to the word tall. I say them the same way. I know a boy named Tal and it's masculine to me. Talia / Talya is lovely on a girl. I really like Avital as well but Meital doesn't appeal to me.

I know both a male and female Tal and I must say that I prefer it for a boy. I like it, but wouldn't use it because I prefer longer, more elaborate names. I think Tal is very strong and seems too masculine for a girl. I do like Meital a lot though.

I like it for a boy, It's more of a male name to me because I associate it with the Israeli football / soccer player Tal Ben-Haim.

Tal sounds like a boys name to me.
I love Avital, btw. If someone else says Meital it's lovely, when I say it the pause between the syllables is too long and sounds quite awkward.

I like Tal, but only on a boy. It would make a good nn for Meital though, which is gorgeous.

I love Hebrew names as most know. :-D

I think it's great. Tal is a boy to me, though. Tal Avraham came to mind right away. Avital is lovely, but Meital for some reason I don't like.
