[Opinions] Lotte

how do you feel about the name Lotte? it's a nickname of Charlotte and i would pronounce the name LOT-ee. i guess the name could also be spelt Lottie, which spelling do you perfer? or do you think it's only appropriate as a nickname, that the full name should be Charlotte and just call the child by the nickname? let me know what you think. thanks

I think Lotte/Lottie is cute, but I prefer it as a nn for Charlotte. My favorite spelling is actually Lotti, the way my great-aunt spells it (the Swiss way).

Lotte sounds horribly old-fashioned to me, and I don't like the sound either (because it sounds so old). But as the side says "Lotte" is pronounced "LAW-tu" and not "LOT-ee". For that you would really have to spell it Lottie.

I really like Lotte when pronounced LOT-uh and only as a nn. Lottie is nice too but again I only like it as a nn. I think if you want the LOT-ee pronounciation it would be best to spell it Lottie.

I would pronounce Lotte "LOT-uh" as it's a Germanic shortening and that's how it's pronounced there.Lottie is the English version (LOT-ee).I love both Lotte and Lottie, but I'm not a huge Charlotte fan. I prefer them as short forms of Lieselotte or nicknames for slighly different names like Hannelore.

I would pronounce Lotte "LOTT uh" and Lottie "LOTT ee."I think it should be Charlotte, with the nickname Lottie.

oh, they are said differentlyI didn't realize that, so forgot my comment below about the Catie / Katie thing :)I quite like the sound of Lotte, but I think Lottie will be generally a more natural nn.

I say Lotte like Lot-eh. It's ok as a nn but I prefer Lottie if you are going to pronounce it like that.

I like Lotte as a nickname for Charlotte. I think spelling it Lottie would be a bit better. I'd pronounce Lotte like the word lot. I think it's too much of a nickname to be used by itself.

I like Lotte, it's cute. I would prefer to meet a Charlotte "Lotte" than just a Lotte though. Lottie or Lotte would be fine, though Lottie is the more recognisable. It's a bit like Catie and Katie, both are fine and sound the same, but Katie is generally the presumed spelling of the name.
