I came across this name today and I think it has a lovely meaning, however, does it sound ugly in a non-Hebrew speaking context?

Reut is nice looking, but I don't know how it is supposed to be pronounced. Is it like Roo, Root, Ray-oo...there are so many possibilities.

It sounds fine when pronounced properly but most people would say it wrong and then it sounds like Root, which isn't particularly appealing.

I think quite a few people would have problems with it.

I love Hebrew names, but I'd use Reut as a middle name. Ruth is a form of Reut and is more well-known.
