[Opinions] Apple (m)
I really love word names and one of my favorites is Apple (g). I know most people on here don't like Apple as a name, but I am in love with it. I was just wondering in anyone had any cute middle name suggestions for Apple. My middle name is Marie, so I was thinking Apple Marie would be kinda cute, but Marie is such a common name and I think I would like something a little bit different for Apple. I'm not very picky on names, probably just not another word name.Thank you! :)

Would you really like Apple if it weren't for Gwyneth Paltrow using it? I mean, really, truly?Apple isn't so bad, I admit, but it's still more a word for me than a name. And it's still has an overwhelming "celebrity worship" vibe to me.I would recommend Pomona instead, as it means "apple" in Latin and was the name of the Roman goddess of fruit trees, gardens, and orchards.

My reason for liking Apple has nothing to do with Gwyneth Paltrow

I think it's usable [m]since Clementine can be used I don't see why Apple can't.I wouldn't use Apple I don't find it appealing as a name at all.Apple Marie sounds so plain since Marie is so filler.Apple Rebecca

I think Apple is kind of cute. It sounds light and refreshing to me, and of course makes me think of apples, which are tasty. However, it doesn't seem like it would make the greatest name-- a nickname would be better. A word name like that doesn't have to be short for anything and could still be used. Or it could be short for Apollonia or something.

Using Apollonia for long is a great idea...I love the clever suggestions on this board.

Apple isn't my cup of tea (no pun intended), but I enjoy a challenge. Marie seems too pedestrian next to Apple. A variant of your mn might work:Apple Mariah
Apple Maureen
Apple Maren
Apple Mariska
Apple Molly Hmmmm. Maybe not. Apple Molly sounds as if she wheels her cart full of apples through the town crying, "One a penny, two a penny . . . Who'll buy my apples?" Why is Apple Annie coming to mind? Is that a character in a movie somewhere? Anyway, here are a few more you might like:Apple Butter (just kidding)
Apple Emily
Apple Sylvie
Apple Justine
Apple Miranda
Apple Elena
Apple Vivien
Apple Viveca / Viveka
Apple Kirsten ("KEER-sten")
Apple Katya
Apple Maia
Apple Carys
Apple Maeve
Apple Catriona / Cathleen
Apple Rhiannon
Apple Bronwen
Apple Elspeth / ElizaAnd I agree with you on avoiding a mn that is also a noun. That would be over the top. Good luck! P.S. Since Apple is such a controversial name, perhaps you could make it a nn for something else. Then she's have options if she didn't like it. I'm not sure what if could be short for, maybe Apollonia, or Aphrodite, Aphra, April, Polaire / Polaris, Polly, Apollinariya / Apollinaria, Apolline? Then again, my father used to call me Tiggers, which has nothing to do with my given name. Nns are supposed to be repositories of all the love and affection you can muster. Just some thoughts.

I might be one of the few......people on here who actually likes Apple. Yes, it's a fruit, and yes, it's the name of a celebrity baby, but something about it is just so cute and friendly. I unabashedly love Apple as a name.Even though Marie is your middle name, I fear that it's simply too commonplace. However, with an unusual name like Apple (for which 90% of people will already be drinking the Haterade for anyway), perhaps a common middle name like Marie will be best.Other suggestions:Apple Elinor
Apple Susannah
Apple Juliana
Apple Miriam
Apple Isabelle
Apple Victoria
Apple Stephanie
Apple Natalya
Apple Wilhelmina
Apple Giselle
Apple Felicity
Apple Tallulah

I agree. And I really think that Apple as a nickname is a serious cop-out. Appoline and Appolonia are great, but as an excuse to use a nn Apple it really bugs me. Apple on its own is friendly and unpretentious (crazy, I know). An apple is such a nice concept.

Same here.In Finland there are also seventeen people named Omena, which means "apple".

I was searching just now for a name that Apple could be short for. I found Apolline and thought you might like it too. Not as a full name for Apple, necessarily, but just because it's the sort of name you might appreciate as much as I do. So, what do you think of Apolline? Also Apollinariya / Apollinaria?

Apolline is darling! I'm not as excited about Apollinariya or Apollinaria (though, I've always loved Apollonia), but Apolline has certainly given me food for thought.. Hmmm...

Thanks for sharing Apolline with me! I think it's really cute! I could see maybe using Apple as a nn for it. Thanks!

I'm so glad someone else on here loves the name Apple! I agree, it is such a cute, friendly name! I don't see how the fact that it is also a fruit could make anyone dislike the name! People name children after flowers and don't think it's weird, why should Apple be so different? Thank you so much for the suggestions! I love:Apple Elinor
Apple Juliana
Apple Isabelle
Apple Tallulah
Apple EloiseThanks again! :)

While Apple is a fruit, it also reminds me of supple and ample. Which is not things you want people to think of when they think of your teenaged Apple-daughter.
