[Opinions] Laurel.
This is a name I go back and forth on. I like it, it's a name we can agree on, but it's still a little pedestrian for my taste. Opinions? I would probably use Laurel Kathleen, though Laurel Katarina is spicier.

I love Laurel, but would be concerned that she would be called Laura or Lauren all the time. And while Laura is a fine name (don't like Lauren), I think Laurel is so much nicer and prettier.

I posted on this a bit ago, but it's slowly climbing to the top of my list. I prn. it LUH-rel though with my hick-accent, so Laurel Kathleen is just okay. LAWR-el Kathleen may be nicer, but it's hard for me to say, lol.

I must have a hick accent toI pronounce it closer to yours.

LOLWell then, I hope i didn't offend you. Most people tell me my pron. sounds 'hickish' so I've taken to beating them to the punch line.

It's pretty. I like it well enough, though I much prefer Laura or Lauren. I don't see Laurel being used much around here, because the nearby town is Laurel. There's a certain type of hairstyle that is considered typical of the town of Laurel: long, frizzed and highly sprayed so it is one solid mass of frizz. It's called Laurel Hair. lol

I always think of Lollie in Stella Dallas when I hear it--a good association for me. She's a little bit dull sans her mother, but she's a sweet, pleasant kid. I think Laurel Kathleen appeals to me more than Laurel Katarina, honestly. The latter feels a little mismatched. I could see Laurel Catalina, though, and I think that would be lovely. Laurel Kathleen, however, sounds soft and sweet to me, and I don't think that's anything to sniff at. It just means that no one'll see her coming, and the element of surprise can be handy. ;)Array

I love itIt's refreshing and unusual, and I don't think it's pedestrian at all.Laurel Kathleen is fantastic (and I dislike Kathleen a lot, so that's saying something). Laurel Katarina is a bit fluffy for me.

Thanks.I really like the combo, but I'm not sure if I'd use Kathleen. It's his mum's name, and while I like her well enough you can't honor one mom without honoring the other.

If that's not too nosey to ask?

Susan Diane/DianneThe first version is how her middle is officially spelled, the second is how she spells it. I've thought of honoring her in the past (though I'm not sure if I would), and the only way she'd allow it is if I used Diane. No Susan, no Susannah. She'd hate me.

I like Laurel. It's a refreshing variant of Laura, but it still has depth to it. Laurel Kathleen is fresh and youthful. Laurel Katarina is her spicier double personality, you're right.Laurel could be a nn for something you'd like better. Laurentine ("LOR-en-teen"), Laurentia, Lauriane, Lorelei, Hannelore, Lorena ("lor-AY-na")? Of course this might take your mn in a completely different direction. Laurentine Katarina, nn Laurel?

Laurentine and LorenaAre lovely. Neither would get the okay. That's why I chose Laurel in the first place, it's soft, familiar, and still unuusal.I love Laurentine, maybe as a nn.
