there was a model on one of the cycles of America's Next Top Model named Jaslene, and she won the competition.

I really don't like it. I can't get passed Jaslene from America's Next Top Model, and I didn't like her at all. I much prefer Jasmine.

it sounds like the parents liked two or three different names and mushed what they liked from those names and created Jaslene. i think the name sounds sloppy for that reason. jasmine is much nicer.

It is ok. As far as Jas names go I love Jasmine.

Too much of a Cher for me.I'm afraid there's only room for one Jaslene in the world, in my book. The image of the winner of America's Next Top Model is a bit too overpowering for my tastes.Even without her, I wouldn't care too much for it. It sounds like a combination of a current-trendy sound (jas) with a dated-trendy sound (lene), and the sum of the parts isn't all that much.Array

I agree with everything in your post. But I don't get the connection between Cher and the name Jaslene. Is that her birth name? Did she do a Jaslene character on one of her shows? I googled the two names but couldn't find a nexus.

Oh, I'm sorry--I meant that it's a one-person name, just like Cher is.Array

It's true! I know a Jazleen (sp?) and she has no mn. Just one name. So funny you would mention that.
