My guy friend and I got discussing names and we came up with the agreement of both liking the name Xan ... which is really actually growing on me. It's a short form of Alexander ... but can't use Alexander because of personal reasons.

What do you think?

I have an aunt of Japanese heritage named Xan, prn. Ex-ann, so when I see Xan I say it like that first. Xan prn. Zan isn't too awful, but it's much too short and sort of sounds like it would be the name of an anime character (to me, anyway.) Why not Xander?

I write fanfic, and Xan is the nickname for an 'evil' character, Xanatos. So, that's the only connection I have.

The last time i heard Xan (or Zan) was on "Roswell" in high school. but i kinda of like it.

I have a cousin called Alexander who we call Xan sometimes, but I would never use it independently.

I don't really like it.

I see it as a modern version of Alexander, just like Xander. It's not terrible, though. It's just too modern and in for my taste.
