[Opinions] Alabama & Micaiah
WDYT of general? and any MN suggestions for Alabama & Micaiah for girls?
ETA:
also triplets from TV:
Brian, Adrian and Canyon [all boys]
from another site children named: Leviticus Heaven (g), Psalms Nevaeh (g) and Ephesians Pharaoh(b).
Canyon [g/b], Heaven [g], Ephesians [b] and Pharaoh [g] are GP for me.

Micaiah's interesting, and has gives a strong religious vibe in a subtle way.
Alabama: I dislike all place names, but this is really unfortunate. No offence to Octavia and other Alabamians (does that word exist?), but it conveys a certain number of stereotypes (extreme poverty, racism, Bible-thumpers) which might not correspond to reality but which are going to be part of the name's image. The fact it's been picked by celebs doens't particularly help its case.
Brian Adrian and Canyon: the only I like is Adrian. Brian's boring and Canyon is just a geographical feature for me. They're also a bit rhymey.
The other names are all dreadful. What is it, the trendy version of Pilgrims' names?

As an Alabama resident, please leave it alone.
Really. For some reason I'm starting to get defensive about babies named Alabama. I live here. And the fact that it is starting to pop up everywhere is really bugging me. It is irksome when someone kind of says "Oh, Alabama, what a kyoote name for my baby girl!" when it's the state I have grown up in, call home, and is the most important place in my life. It's degrading it pretty significantly.
Honestly, you'd think these hip namers could leave Alabama alone, of all places. It's not like we're reputed for or associated with anything worth naming a kid after. If you want Allie use Alison or Alice or Alexandra. If you want Bam-bam you should not be naming kids. If Alabama is significant to you, cool: we also have a state flower, I think it's the camellia? Really. Leave it alone. I am going to start being offended by it in the same way you are offended by God Lucifer if I see it any more.
I don't like Micaiah, it's too cute.

Nevaeh is an extremely trendy name that has unpredictable pronunciations, and spellings for that matter. Most people pronounce it Nuh-vay-uh but there are always variants.
I don't like Alabama strictly due to the celeb influence and the relation to the state. I dislike both. However, it has a nice sound.
Micaiah is nice, although I don't like its pronunciation unless I can pronounce it as Muh-kai-uh. The My-kay-uh pronunciation doesn't flow to me. I think the name may be a problem though as people will want to say Micah.

I pronounce it muh-kai-uh
Yay!
Alabama would be okay if the kid is exclusively called Ally / Allie...
I say that because Alabama doesn't sound like a name to me, strictly a state located in U.S.A.
Micaiah this name is too close to the trendy M names that have become very tired in my opinion and quite frankly were never attractive sounding.
Adrian is a fantastic name. One of my personal favorites. Very handsome. Brian equals yawn. Canyon is just plain ridiculous.
