I'd like to use this to honor a family member and Caroline Herschel.I don't really like Caroline so Herschel is nicer for me.
What do you think and would this be more pleasant on a female or male?

Well being a male Jewish name, I obviously only like it for a man. I don't find anything feminine about it at all, sorry. Why not use a different form of Caroline instead?

I like Caroline but not Herschel (especially not for a girl). Herschel would be cute for a pet though.

I thought Herschel was a male's name. Atleast, I've only known males with it. Where I live it seems to be common in the older generations and nonexistent now.

Herschel is no girl name, sorry. It is a Yiddish male first name, a pet form of Hersh.

I've just noticed this is a surname and it's a masculiene name.Shame on me.I'm not falling into the trend though.I guess I wont use it on a girl after all.

I don`t care about this name because it looks like a ln to me.

I think it would look good as a middle name, for a girl. It could work on a boy as well, but it's just that Herschel sounds more feminine than masculine.
