Two days after the birth of our new son, Rhett, we found a baby girl on our doorstep. According to the note pinned to her blanket, Rafe was her father. I swear, if I had been holding a gun at that moment, Rafe would have been dead at my feet. He insisted that it was absolutely untrue, that there was no way, and we called Social Services together. We eventually found out that the teenage daughter of one of Rafe's coworkers (Rafe only met her one time when her mother brought her to the office) hid a pregnancy, delivered her baby in secret, and left it with us because she liked the family pictures she saw on Rafe's desk. I suppose she thought saying the baby was Rafe's would persuade us to take her in. Thank goodness her friends got scared and called the police when she wouldn't tell them what had happened to the baby. After the truth came out, the mother worked with Social Services and an agency to find an adoptive family.
