[Opinions] Miri
WDYT? It's from a book I read, Princess Academy by Shannon Hale. It's not on Btn but I think its really pretty. In the book the character was named after the Miri flower. Too bad there isn't really one. There was also a character called Britta, which I'm also starting to like.

I LOVED Princess Academy! It's actually my current favourite book! :) I like Miri has a nickname for Miriam, but it's pretty on its own. But I love Britta. :D

Reminds me of Star TrekThere's an Original Series ep called "Miri" and its one of the character's names in that episode. I kinda like it.

Miri is very pretty! I like it both as a full name and as a nickname : )

I love it but would only use it as a nickname for Miriam, Mireille, or Mirela/Mirella.

I love it, and I think it's perfectly workable as a full name or a nickname. It simply sounds rather ethnic to me, along the lines of Shiri, Siri, and Kiri--and ethnic isn't something I discourage, lol.On the other hand, I'm kind of digging the idea of Miria nn Miri right now. There are some cool names it could be a nickname for.And I'm very fond of that book. :)Array

I've seen this name before on an HBO documentary...there was a girl named Miri Rae. I think it's spunky, interesting and definitely not a name you see everyday. I like it.

I read that book! It was good, I though. Miri is absolutely adorable, but I think it only works as a nickname for Miranda, Mira or Miriam. It's way too cutesy as a given name.I really like Britta as well.

I'm not fond of it as a given name, but it's cute as a nickname (Miriam).

Miri also shows up in Tamora Pierce's Tortall series as a minor character. Very likeable. I'd use it as a nn, maybe for Miriam, Miranda, etc.Britta is cute, too, although the water filter connotation might turn some off the name.
