I like Miri has a nickname for Miriam, but it's pretty on its own. But I love Britta. :D

I love it but would only use it as a nickname for Miriam, Mireille, or Mirela/Mirella.

I love it, and I think it's perfectly workable as a full name or a nickname. It simply sounds rather ethnic to me, along the lines of Shiri, Siri, and Kiri--and ethnic isn't something I discourage, lol.

On the other hand, I'm kind of digging the idea of Miria nn Miri right now. There are some cool names it could be a nickname for.

I've seen this name before on an HBO documentary...there was a girl named Miri Rae.

I think it's spunky, interesting and definitely not a name you see everyday. I like it.

Miri is absolutely adorable, but I think it only works as a nickname for Miranda, Mira or Miriam. It's way too cutesy as a given name.

I really like Britta as well.

I'm not fond of it as a given name, but it's cute as a nickname (Miriam).

Miri also shows up in Tamora Pierce's Tortall series as a minor character. Very likeable. I'd use it as a nn, maybe for Miriam, Miranda, etc.

Britta is cute, too, although the water filter connotation might turn some off the name.
