a Raven is a plain bird, not considered something very nice or anything like that, while a Phoenix is more or less the "bird among birds", a mythological creature ... seems a bit unfair, but maybe that's only my impression?

Yeah It's a bit to themey, fantasy novel for me. On their own Phoenix and Raven are ok tnough.

It's a bit of a bird theme but it's quite nice. I've never liked Raven for a girl but it's kind of cute for a boy.
