I rediscovered this name today and I'm really liking it. It was the name of an actual woman from the 18th century who was portrayed in a film we saw in History today. I thought is was odd that someone of that time period would be named this, especially since she was from New England, but I like it. Any thoughts on Parthenia?

Also, to save space, what do you think of Fae as a nn for Frances? Especially since I really like Fae anyway but wouldn't really want to use it was a fn on it's own. I also deteste the nn Franny for Frances, and I think Fae could be a cute alternative. Wdyt? Too much of a stretch?

I like Parthenope, but for some reason not Parthenia. It slightly sounds like a disease or something.

I think Fae could be a nickname for Frances, but is rather a stretch. Fay looks much prettier.

I like Parthenope, Parthenia not so much but it's fine, maybe more as as a middle name. Fae for Frances is a bit of a stretch (incidentally, I much prefer Fay as a spelling). Frances is beautiful and it doens't need any nicknames, if you dislike Franny. WDTO Fran, by the way? Sometimes people who can't pronounce my full name properly call me that?

Parthenia is a name that I do like as a GP. Fae would be a cute nn for Frances. It would work quite well.

I think Parthenia is a cool Name! I also Like the name Pathenope (pahr-THEN-oh-pee) from Greek Mythology. She fell in love with Odysseus.
I've always liked the name Frances with the nn Francie. Fae is cute too. I love the name Fayette with nn Fae. Do you like Fayette?

I absolutely love Parthenia, but that shouldn't be a big surprise considering my insane fondness for long Greek girls' names. As for Fae, I think it could work as a nickname. Fae / Fay is sort of a guilty pleasure name for me and I really like Frances. Like you, I'm not a big fan of the traditional nicknames for it.

Love Parthenia. I dig old Greek P names. :)

Frances nn Fae is cute and workable--it's no more difficult a leap than Kiki for a name beginning with K, IMO--though my preference would be to spell it Faye.

Parthenia sounds like a medical problem to me. The patient suffered from myasthenia, neuralgia and parthenia of the duodenum. lol
I don't care for the spelling of Fae. I do really like Faye, but consider it a separate name and a stretch asa nn for Frances.

Parthenia's nice but I think it would have to have a nickname, "Nia" or something.

I think Fae is better with a "y" in it -- "Faye" or "Fay", but I actually like Frances just as it is.
