[Opinions] Abbye
My name is Abbygaile and I go by Abbye sometimes with teachers. It is still pronounced the same way as Abby, but with an 'e' on the end. What do you think of this name? I presonally like it, but I go by Logan usually since there are like 7 Abby's in my homeroom alone and almost 100 in our intire school system.

hello Logan Glover / Patricia Underwood / Chloe McSwain etc.
Abbygaile Williams now, eh? But wait - your profile says Abbyegaile, but here you say Abbygaile. *sigh* You could say anything at all about "your" name at this point, and it'd be just like the grunting of a monkey, to me - because if you're going to lie all the time, nothing you say has any meaning any more.
Now I'm going to hold forth about the names anyway, because that's what this forum's for.
I dislike it spelled Abbye. It looks like "ab-buy," and spellings that don't agree with the way they should be pronounced are distracting and embarrassing for everyone. Similar to traditionally male names on females ... there's always some attention drawn to what is "wrong" or unexpected about the name, and how someone made a mistake. Awkward and bothersome. If I had to choose between going by Abbye (spelled like that) and going by Logan, I'd pick Logan, because Logan is getting more usual on females anyway, it distinguishes from peers if there were a lot of Abbys around, it's pronounceable to literate folks, and people can fairly easily hide it if they're surprised you're not a boy.

LOL Chloe McSwain.
Oh, I knew the Logan-on-a-girl was familiar

Write a 50,000 word + novel about a girl with multiple personalities, each with questions and complaints about her name. Have one who's got a boy's name, one that has unnecessary letters in her name, and one who has it pronounced wrong all the time. Have her be best friends with a girl who's pregnant with sextuplets.
;] Post it on the writing board when you're done, and quit the trolling. If you feel the need to make another personality, write another novel.

How do you know?
Just wondering. I thought they had different IPs.

I just checked, and they do have different IP's
There is the chance that she got a new computer, but otherwise, I don't think we should really be harassing her with the chance that she may not be that person.

LOL, as far as trolls go
this one is certainly imaginative. I have enjoyed reading all of her fake stories - she is very articulate and creative. And always gives replies, and never gets very angry.
Also she is pretty annoying and asks about annoying names, and I'm getting pretty sick of trolls. But I bet she is very smart IRL. If only she could put some of that creative energy into doing something other than irritating people!

She might not have ever got very angry, but she did spend a fair bit of time harrassing some people via PM in her various guises - attacking someone with one sockpuppet then using another sockpuppet to defend the first one, etc. Very tiresome.
:/ Oh, I wasn't aware.
Oh, I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who thought that
I felt so guilty assuming it was the same girl

Ditto
I was about 99.999999999% sure it was the same person. But I figured, with that little tiny shred of doubt, that I had better keep my mouth shut.

I think it's a bit selfish when people add unnecessary letters to their names. Abby and Abbye are essentially the same name, except the latter is a lot more inconvenient and confusing. When you call out "Abby" or "Abbye," you're calling out the same name, and everyone will respond. Same with Abbygaile and Abigail - no offense, but the way you spell it bugs me quite a lot. I like that you go by your surname though - that's so strange that people would refuse to call you it because they say it's a boy's name. I know several girls who go by their last names, or a combination of first and last names.
Yeah, but it is easier when people put up lists and stuff, I always know which one is my name. They only print the first letter of the last name. So the lists look like this:
Abby P.
Abby Z.
Abby S.
Abby A.
Abbye W.
Abby P.
Abby P.
We have 3 Abby P.'s in my grade, Abby Parker, Abby Petrovasky, and Abby Parker (yeah we've got 2 of 'em) so it's easy for me to know which one is my name just because of the spelling. Selfish? How so?And Logan isn't my last name, it's my MIDDLE name. Williams is my last name. Abbygaile Logan Williams.

That makes sense. I can see how it would be easier for you that way. However, the -e on the end doesn't make any sense, even though it's taken from the e on the end of your name. It makes it seem like it would be pronounced A-BIE or Abb-ye. Abbey would have the same effect as making it easily identifiable, and it would make phonetic sense. There's also Abi and Abbie. It's really the seemingly superfluous -e on the end that makes me think it's selfish, because it does make phonetic sense.
Also it's not easier for people you only meet fleetingly or that kind of thing. I think if I were you in a lot of cases, if I were asked my name I would say "Abbye" or "Abbygaile" and not correct them if they spelled it wrong. Not necessarily school, maybe.
I know a lot of girls that go by their middle names too, and I think going by Logan would prevent a lot of the Abby confusion, though I don't like Logan on a girl very much. Of course, I wouldn't refuse to call a girl Logan "Logan" if that was her name, even though I consider it a boys' name - that's silly.

She explained how so.
If you're asking for opinions, you shouldn't expect that everyone will agree with you.
And on another note, I wouldn't like it if my friends/classmates shared my surname online.

I think Abbygaile is kind of ridiculous, and Abby looks much better than Abbye. Abigail is a pretty name. I really dislike Logan on a girl.
Because my name is Abbygaile and my parents took the 'Abby' from Abbygaile and slid the 'e' from the end over to the end of the y. It is easier for ME since there are almost 100 Abby's (almoost ALL spelled as Abby) in my school, and I didn't want to be one of the ones that was "just another Abby". It would have gotten on my nerves. Besides Abby and Abigail aren't my name. Abbye and Abbygaile are.
Almost 100 Abby's in your school? How big is your school?
There are around 650 kids in our school. Aparantly parents went through an "I love the name Abby" stage when most of the se kids were born whihc was around 1994 to 1995. Since most of them are in my grade. Not all 100, because we only have 97 students in the 7th grade at my school and I think 21 of us are name Abby something.
Wow that must get really confusing. I don't see how adding an extra e would help though. They still sound the same. I would probably go by Gaile in your situation.

Gaile's a good idea.
I definitely prefer Abigail NN Abbey / Abby. The 'e' on the end seems uneccesary. Plus, I have a cousin named Abbey, so Abbye looks like a typo. And while like Logan, I much prefer it for a boy. Mostly because it's a surname and I think surnames fit better with boys and I also have a cousin named Logan (b).
