[Opinions] Gregory?
I am currently liking this name. Call me crazy, but I have a huge crush on Hugh Laurie. And of course, the character he plays is Gregory House. But that's not the only reason I like the name. To me, Gregory just seems .... well, I don't know what exactly. So my question: what do you think of the name Gregory in general, Hugh Laurie excluded?

I love it, but then I am probably swayed by my Catholic upbringing, the fact that I have an uncle with the name, and my hopless love of Gregory Peck. It's a nice, strong classic name to me.

Gregory is my uncle's name. The name itself gives me a silly, goofy vibe, most especially if the nickname is Greg. I like this overall, and would definitely use it on a child, mainly for honoring purposes.

I like Gregory, but I prefer Greg. But that's because I'm more used to Greg (I have an Uncle Greg). Gregory is still very handsome though.

I love Gregory! I didn't always like it, but I have for a few months now.

=)That's good that you like it now. I too didn't like Gregory either for a while. (Harry Potter had that much affect on me.)

Gregory Peck was the epitome of a tall, dark and handsome man. I grew up watching old movies and he single-handedly (sp?) made me fall in love with the name.I love the sound of Gregory as well. The repeated "g's" and "r's" are very rugged to my ears. If I had my way only people with thick Scottish brogues could say the name out loud. :-) I had a crush on a guy in school once simply because his name was Malcolm McGregor. Well, he was cute so that helped . . . . How about Gregory Malcolm? You might also like the variants Gregor and Greer. I've often thought that Rory would make a cute nn for Gregory. The two names have nothing etymologically in common. It just seems "do-able" to me. P.S. I love Hugh Laurie too. My niece liked him on "House" so I introduced her to Hugh Laurie the comedian in the Jeeves and Wooster series from the BBC. You might enjoy those too. :-)

I really love the idea of Gregory nn Rory! I've been trying to think of a way to use Gregory (it's honoring) for so long (I'm not in love with Greg), and this might just do it. Mind if I steal it?

Ooh, that's another name I love -- Malcolm. And Gregory Malcolm is really nice. =)Gregor doesn't have the same effect on me. And Greer is pretty much ruined for me because last year when I was a freshmen, there was a senior with the last name Greer. Oh, he wasn't mean or anything, but now I just see Greer as a surname.
What's not to like about Hugh Laurie?! He's a musical genius as well as a comedic one. One day I was on youtube and I discovered A Bit of Fry and Laurie (at least, I think that's the name). I was like so shocked to learn that he was on a bunch of British shows. (This was shortly after I learned he wasn't American.) Anyway, another day I looked him up on wikipedia. I was again shocked. Hugh Laurie's been in my life for like ever and I never realized it! Notably, he was in Sense & Sensibility as somebody's relative (not that I've fully read the book). Also, his voice was used for a British character on Family Guy (the name was Nigel something).
