According to my book- "The Great Australian & New Zealand
Book of Baby Names" by Cecily Dynes.Mie, Mietta is a pet name for Mary and that Marintha is the
Spanish form of Mary.

Isn't Maria the Spanish form of Mary?

Yes and noMaría (note the accent) is the Spanish form of Mary. Maria (no accent) is the Latinate form. But many parents don't use accents, so Maria without an accent is often used by Spanish parents.Mária is the Hungarian form of Mary.Miranda
