[Opinions] Re: Names you wish had a different pronounciation?
in reply to a message by CN
these are, I think, correct somewhere, but not "originally" --Leif - I don't want it to be LAYF. I want it to be LEEF.
Eileen - I don't want it to be ayleen, I want it to be eye-leen.
Deirdre - I want DAIR-drah, not Deer-dra or Deer-dree.
Phaedra - It's FEEdra, not Faydra. Argh.And these I'm probably flat wrong aboutCeridwen - I want KAIR-id-wen, not ker-ID-wen.
Vervain - I want vur-VAIN, not VUR-vain.
Jola - I want JO-la, not YO-la.
Muriel - I want MUR-reel, not MYOOR-ree-ul.

I've only encountered Eileen with your pronounciation. I'd be willing to bet almost anybody who listened to the radio in the 80's would agree, remember "Come On Eileen?" :)

I know both a Leif and an Eileen with your pronunciations if that makes you feel better. :)And I totally ditto you on Ceridwen. That's the reason it's of my PNL.
