[Opinions] Re: Finnish BAs
in reply to a message by Saana
A few days ago I looked at birth announcements in an old paper and found a twinset Bianca Ella Poutapilvi and Alexandra Elli Aurinko. :SSonja Camilla (Sara)
- Pretty, I like both Sonja and Sara, although Sara is overly used
Helmi Hellä Inkeri (Ilona)
- What were the parents thinking? Hellä = gentle. I'd just go by Heljä.
Veera Matilda
- Booring
Ella Johana (mother's name is Johana)
- *Another Ella*. Johana will propably get misspelled as Juhana or Johanna. (There are 11 women named Johana in Finland)
Verna Viola (Iida & Saaga)
- Very nice, but I'd prefer Ida and Saga
Eveliina Fanni Linnea
- I like it very much, but Eveliina would be nicer with one "i".
Enna Alissa (Alex)
- Finnish cre8tivity :D. Anna/Enni Alisa would be very nice. I like Alex
Olivia Laura Amelia (Adele)
- You can't find names that are more dull than Olivia
Peppi Janita Julia (Nella, mother's name is Janita)
- Peppi and Nella are so trendy right now...
Amanda Orvokki (Patrik & Monika)
- Amanda is trendy, too
Olivia Aleksandra
- Tryndee...
Peppi Aava Emilia
- :D Aava is one of the most ridiculous names you can create (IMHO) - I'd love to see combos like Aava Meri or Aava Taivas
Viivi Emmiina Hannele (Rasmus)
- Nms. Emmiina is very, very cutesy. (There are already 405 Emmiinas in the world, when one is already too much)
Taimi Maria
- Oh, how pretty! I adore tree names!
Emilia Miisa Mirjam
- I love saying it aloud.
Saima-Sirkku Anneli
- Our music teacher named her younger daughter Saima - I think it's a gorgeous name. Sirkku and Anneli are both names that I could imagine on 60 years old ladies.
Pinja Peppiina
- I hate Pinja and I hate Peppiina.
Emma Paiju Helena
- Paiju is derived from paijata, I suppose. I wish the parents would stick with Paju :P
Amanda Pinja Mimosa
- I think I've already seen this combo somewhere. Tries too hard.
Elisa Maija Kaarina (Emilia)
- Elisa is my best friend's elder sister's name. I'm not a fan of Elisa itself, but I like the association. And thank God it's not Eliisa or Liisa.
Päivikki Elina-Inkeri
- What an old-fashioned choice!
Helmi Tuulia
- Helmi is nice, but I don't like Tuulia
Elina Aino Maarit
- Ok with me
Pinja Alexandra
- What's the big deal with Pinja...
Twins: Jaana Sylvia & Tiina Maria
- Tiina is very 70's. Sylvia and Maria would have been a lovely choice for twins.Boys:
Ville Matias (Kalle & Vilma)
- The parents have given many thoughts to choose such a unique name to their child. :D
Esa Väinö Olavi (Maiju & Riku)
- I love Esa!
Eemil Antero
- Emil would be much better.
Eetu Petteri
- I like Petteri. Eetu is nice because of the associations I have
Kasper Valtteri
- What a yuppie choice!
Vilho Oskari
- My uncle's dog is named Vilho.
Niko Valtteri
- Fine with me
Totti Waltteri Antinpoika ('Antinpoika' means Antti's son; father's name is Antti)
- Quul. :P. I'd love to meet a respectable professor named Totti.
Onni Viljami
- How sweet! Onni is another name I can't imagine on grown men.
Vilho Pekka Verneri (Miika & Lassi)
- I kinda like Pekka on today's children, though it is an old fashioned choice.
Samuel Jonni Juhani
- The first international masculine first name, if Kasper isn't counted.
Juho Eemil Aukusti
- *Yawn*
Jasper Mathias
- I don't like Jasper, but at least it is more or less international.ED: Vilho is definitely not my dad's dog as I wrote at the first time, I live with my both parents and we don't have any pets. :D
I had also a few spelling/language-connected mistakes
