[Opinions] Idly
Today I was stood in the post office when I heard two women chatting, both it appeared strangers, one was heavily pregnant. They got talking about when the baby was due and the sex of the baby, she announced it was going to be a girl. I was eves-dropping on the whole conversation, then she began talking about the name.
Here's what she said:" I like the names Idony and Lily, so decided I would call her Idony Lily, but my husband doesnt want a middle name of a long first name. So we've come up with the idea of combining the names and calling her Idly as we both also wanted something unique." She then spelt it out to the woman, and although she said nothing is certain I thought I would share. It personally reminds me of the word Idle. And looking at the name it looks thrown together, almost missing something or unfinished, but I cant think of any way of making it look better lol.WDYT?

Idly (pronounced IHD-lee, as I'm assuming this woman pronounces it) is also a kind of South Indian food. It's kind of a steamed rice patty, eaten with most meals. That's what it reminds me of, and of course the adverbial form of idle as well. Poor kid!

Ugh... it reminds me of idle, too.

Atrocious. Isn't "idly" the adverb for "idle", anyway?

Wow, that's awful...Idly is the adverbial form of "idle." Considering the meaning/connotations of "idle" as lazy. Yeah, not a word name I'd persue. That shoes terrible ignorance on the part of the parents.
