[Opinions] Re: Catharine
I'm not too fond of the A in the middle of K/Catharine because it puts too much emphasis on the middle syllable, as if it were pronounced distinctly with 3 syllables. When I say my name (which is Catherine) the middle syllable is there, but just ever so slightly. In fact, I'm always at a loss as to whether I consider my name 2 or 3 syllables. I suppose I don't like the 3 very distinct syllables because growing up, whenever my dad was angry with me we would say my name this way ("CATH-uh-run, get down here!), so it has the sound of impending doom to me. :-P I don't, however, like when the middle syllable is entirely left out, as in Kathryn.
