[Opinions] Earth
Do you think the name Earth could be unisex? I rather like it on both genders. It's a huge GP -- but I suppose with the right "über-granola" partner, I'd consider the name more carefully. Opinions on the name?

I prefer Gaia or EarthaEarth is nms and has a lot of teasing potential.

Um, no. I don't particularly like word names, unless they are long established, but even if I did, Earth is not even an attractive word.
I suppose it would seem marginally more acceptable as a female name than a male.

I don't think it's useable, certainly not as a first name, it looks like a stereotypically "hippie" name. The idea of Earth is quintessentially female for me (as in "Mother Earth"), I'd find it really bizarre on a boy.

Alternatives....What do you think of Gaia?

I went to school with a girl named Earth.

Was she ever teased may I ask?

Not that I am aware of.

I prefer Eartha or Terra but neither of them is really to my taste.
Earth just seems to wordy for my tastes though I could see it as both a male or female name.

Yes [m]I have loved the name Earth for the longest time. I think it's gorgeous for either gender. I have seen babies of both genders named it. I have it down as a MN for a boy.

Gaia / Rheia.
Adomas / Adam

George / Georgiana

Well, to be honest, I don't think of Earth as a name...for a person, that is. So, no I don't think it could be unisex because I don't see it as a name for a person. I suppose Eartha could work for a girl, though, if one is a fan of Eartha Kitt and wanted to honour her. Earth, though, just seems too...spacey of a name. :/ I can't take it seriously. However, it does depend on the person. If I knew the asker to be an 'über-granola' sort whose naming tastes leaned more towards the hippy spectrum, I would concede the name would work wonderfully for them. But I'd most likely still possess my original perceptions of the name.

I dislike it. I don't particular like the sound of it as a word, and nothing about it sounds like a name to me. How about Gaia for a girl?

I never was able to bring myself to like Gaia, but I suppose it would be sort of neat for someone else. I think I prefer Gaea.

Err... I'm not quite sure what to say to this one. Earth...If you mean it like the planet then I much prefer Jupiter, Venus, Mars...Basically everything other than Uranus. I kind of understand what you mean about it though - it does have some strange attraction to it. But always, always keep this as a GP ;D

Captain Planet...(m)The only thing I think of is the animated character on Captain Planet, Kwame (voiced by the guy from Reading Rainbow!) ... so that automatically makes me think it would be a male name.Aside from that, though, I just think it sounds too much like a word.
