Help[Opinions] Bliss
What do you think of the Bliss for a boy? It just randomly popped into my head today - it's the name of a poet I remember studying in high school (Bliss Carman). Actually, I just looked it up and it's properly his middle name (mother's maiden name), but he was known as Bliss. I am not one for word names, but I'm wavering here (although if anything, it'd be a GP). Opinions?

...and none of the teaseworthy things bother me at all (plus teasing is a part of life, we all get teased for something). I think the meaning and the idea behind the name is beautiful. I kind of like it for a boy but girl is my first choice. The name has quietly been on my mind lately.

It seems more feminime than masculine, IMO. It's okay as a GP, but I personally wouldn't actually use it.

This was my favorite name when I was 16. I only thought of it for a girl though.

Why keep it GP if you like it use it (unless it was something cruel or violent or offense) I don't see why unusual names should be GP only. I think it sounds best in the MN spot myself quite nicely.

I like Bliss...but for a female and as a middle name. However, I think it needs just the right first name or else it's doomed to sounding very cheezy and stripperish.

Haha, I apparently didn't give the name enough thought before posting - call girls and blisters didn't even cross my mind! It's fine, it was really just a random thought and not my typical style anyway.

Don't let us hardasses deter you if you really like it. Though from the sounds of it, you weren't very attached. I believe you should stick with a name if you really love it. Unless it's MyKynzieLeigh Madyysin. Then you're just off your nut.

Thanks, and I promise I'm (usually) not easily deterred! It really was just more of a random thought and apparently a pretty funny one. I LOVE that spelling of MyKynzieLeigh Madyysin though. Haha!

Ahem. While I don't necessarily see Bliss along the lines of Destiny and Heaven, I don't care for it much, either. Partly for the reason I've already, uh, outlined, and also because it sounds less than pleasing to the ears. Too much like piss, really.

That would make a grand sibset.
I don't mind the sound of Bliss that much actually, it's much nicer than the sound of Blythe. But the BL does make it sound very unintellectual to me.
On a separate note, I'm really getting into Joy lately and would rather meet one than a Bliss. Bliss kind of implies a sort of insane zealot-us rapture 24/7, while Joy seems more reserved and generally celebratory.

I work with a lady named Joy, and she's the complete opposite to her name. Also not very well liked.

We are talking about names and the vibes and implications of names, not the people attached to them. It doesn't REALLY matter if you're named Madison or Madeleine.

LOL I am sorry. My post seemed a bit snarky. :) I did not mean it that way.
But I am thinking about this a lot lately. Everything we talk about on here completely doesn't matter IRL at all, it is naming art for the sake of naming art. KWIM? I like it for that actually. And I think attaching names to faces or qualities ruins the joy of naming. It is a lot easier to do this with word names than regular names and I think it is important to remind people.

I don't like it at all, sorry. It has a vaguely sexual undertone and sounds more like a call girl's name. Sorry to be so negative, but I really, really don't care for this on either gender.

Honestly, I think a boy (or girl) could get teased pretty badly in middle school due to some possible sexual connections. But I think the same thing about Ryder despite it being one of my favorite names, so I guess it's ok. I'd stick it on as a GP just to be safe, though.
