[Facts] Origin of Sibel?
Is the girl's name Sibel a short form of Isabel or another spelling of Cybele?"You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."
"It does not become me to make myself smaller than I am." (Edith Södergran 1891-1923)

In my family tree there is a Sibel. It is also encountered a few times as Sabel, Savil, and Sabell. I assume since there are Isabel's, that it is likely her name was in actuality, Isabel. But, my first thought was that it was Sybil. It really depends on who named who Sibel and how they got it. I am sure there are Sibels out there with their names inspired from Isabels, and likewise, there are Sibels out there derived from Sybil.
