Honestly, if they have ever seen Dr. Quinn, they will automatically pronounce it Mi-kay-la. I think it will be an uphill battle all this child's life to get them to pronounce it the way you wanted them to... if you and they are ready for that battle, I say go for it, as I like this spelling so much better.
Side note: My cousin's name is Chelese (Sha-leese), and inevitably, people, after reading it, will always call her Chelsea. She has battled it all her life and does not mind, as she loves her name and the reason her mother gave it to her.
