I just don't like the sound of Alex at all, not even on a boy, although I'd much rather see it on a boy than a girl, thats for sure.
My personal favourite nn for Alexandra is Lexie.
As for the spelling I prefer Allie, it looks more substantial, but I don't mind Ally either. I'd prn. Ali differentley and don't like the Ali G association.
